William Yeoward…Collected

William Yeoward casts the ram -- 2015’s zodiac animal -- as his muse for his new collection with Jonathan Charles.

October 2014 – High Point, NC – Occasional furniture manufacturer Jonathan Charles collaborates with renowned decorator and designer William Yeoward for his third collection to debut at Fall 2014 High Point Market. Branded as a tastemaker, retailer, and designer of exquisite home furnishings, Yeoward, whose last decorating job was for Lady Margaret Thatcher, created this collection to share the one-of-a-kind antiques discovered throughout his travels as a decorator, translated for today. Rich oak in varying shades of gray and washed finishes lends a vintage, lived-in look, while exquisite hand carvings -- a testament to Jonathan Charles’ multi-dimensional craftsmanship -- elevate each piece to a museum-worthy work of art.

With the year of the ram in tow, Yeoward incorporated the zodiac animal in many of his designs for a whimsical touch. “The ram represents spirited creativity and passion, which resonates with my approach to design,” says Yeoward. Comprised of occasional tables, bedroom, dining, and upholstered furniture, William Yeoward’s new collection will be available for purchase in retail stores and designer showrooms nationwide starting April 2015.

“Can you imagine the joy of discovering the Saragossa table in the early 90s in Florence, Italy? Scrubbed of its original paint, the dry oak carving looks as well today as the day it was made. With the stone top and perfect small-scale proportions, the Saragossa can sit behind a small sofa or at the entry of a town or country house.” WY

TARPORLEY STOOL (SMALL) - 530095
“The Tarporley Stool with its decadently carved ram leg makes for an ideal cocktail table in a grand country drawing room. Pile up the magazines and books, put on the tray of cocktails and perch elegantly while enjoying an evening of classic entertainment!” WY

TARPORLEY SERVING TABLE - 530089
“The largest piece in our collection of ram inspired furniture has a secret drawer with the carved mask of this elegant animal as the handle. I yearn to use a pair of these tables in a glorious pavilion flooded with light and serve from them a magnificent buffet.” WY

STOCKHOLM CONSOLE - 530094
“The Stockholm console, so elegant in its proportions and so exact in its dimensions, has to be one of the most elegant pieces of drawing furniture in the the WY collected line. In many shades of grey and following Swedish tradition with just a little twist, this piece will look as good in 30 years time as it does today.” WY

TARPORLEY ARMCHAIR - 530096
“The quality of caring and finishing of this magnificent greyed oak bergere needs to be admired and respected. The original chair is in fact the brother to the Tarporley table. Upholstered in a delightful William Yeoward fabric, this piece works elegantly in a drawing room of contemporary or traditional taste.” WY *Please note that the fabric is provided by William Yeoward

LUCCA BENCH (SINGLE) - 530104
“The original Single Lucca bench sits in my hall in London. A perfect piece to drop one’s hat and gloves on entering the apartment. I have been known on occasion to move this piece into the drawing room and put in front of the fire.” WY *Please note that the bench is available without the cushion.

LUCCA BENCH (DOUBLE) - 530105
“The Double Lucca Bench, which is derived from its singular version (above), sits perfectly at the bottom of a good king size bed; an ideal place to toss the bedcover and pillows when one is resting in the late afternoon.” WY *Please note that the bench is available without the cushion.

MONTBARD CHAIR - 530107
“The Montbard chair, which was found at the same time as its namesake console table, is an elegant interpretation of a nineteenth century farmhouse chair. Upholstered and padded in a delightful polka dot print, this piece looks well in the garden room, kitchen or living room of the house.” WY

EVA SOFA - 530092
“My friend Eva is a legend in the Stockholm antiques trade. She has been kindly supplying beautifully painted furniture to the design cognoscente for some 40 years. To shop at Eva’s store is an event with an appointment not an accident. The bench and chairs can be classic reminders of such a visit. Use at a dining table or as pairs around the house – these pieces will never let you down.” WY

MONTBARD CONSOLE - 530108
“The Montbard console found on a trip only a few months ago in the Burgundy region of France was placed in the back of the car, swifter than one would believe possible. The simple frieze gave me the opportunity of adding a useful drawer and turning the console into a serving table; perfect for the kitchens or dining rooms of today.” WY

MARSHFIELD SOFA - 530103
“I am very keen on upright sofas in front of small console tables and the proportions of these pieces can only be credited to the arts and crafts period from which the designs originate. With hand caned seats, turned legs and slatted backs, the Marshfield collection seems to me to be perfect.” WY

MARSHFIELD SOFA - 530091
“When I saw the original Toby sofa it was in shocking disrepair and sold to me some 20 years ago by a delightful young antiques dealer who was simply learning his trade. To me, the elegant lines of this 1940’s treasure are as relevant today as the day the piece was originally constructed.” WY

MOXBY TABLE - 530093
“My Moxby table has sat in the corner of my drawing room in the country for some 35 years. Beautifully carved, it makes a perfect end table or small occasional table where one can play cards, read or simply enjoy a conversation.” WY

YORK CONSOLE - 530098
“There are times when a grand piece of furniture is required in a decorative scheme and the York Console definitely fits the bill. It features a beautiful marble tabletop that balances the distressed white oak finish. Intricately carved and beautifully proportioned, this piece will sit well in the larger dining room along the wall as a serving table.” WY

MORRIS’ BED - 530090
“Morris’ bed, so called as it was the resting place of one of my favourite terrier dogs. The bed in essence is inspired by the traditional beds of Mallorca, the beautiful Balearic island south of Spain. These beds are traditionally simple, light and extremely comfortable. The detail in the joinery is the point of the whole.” WY

MONCHIQUE CONSOLE - 530110
“This early 18th century piece is Portuguese. I bought it in Lisbon 30 years ago and although I have recolored it from the original oxblood it remains otherwise unchanged. The varying shades of oak finishes really bring out the depth from the original carvings that are gracefully replicated.” WY
